Remedial and Deep Tissue Massage

Do you wish you could wake up each day free from discomfort, stiffness, aches and pains? I speak to many clients who, for a long time, have suffered with long-standing issues with their back, neck and shoulders. Our increasingly sedentary lifestyles mean this is a common issue for many people, especially those who sit for a long time in front of their computer screen each day.

Remedial massage is an effective way to prevent and treat muscle injuries, pain and soreness using advanced massage techniques including muscle energy techniques, soft tissue release and neuromuscular therapy to access, correct and rebalance the soft tissues of the body. Most pain is soft tissue in origin and trigger points which are sensitive points in our muscles can radiate or refer pain to many parts of our body.

For example, most headaches originate in the muscles of the neck and head, and lower back and sciatica pain often originate in the muscles rather than in vertebral disc problems. Deep tissue massage uses pressure and movement to release deeper layers of tissue including tendons and fascia, and is slower and firmer than a Swedish massage.

After a treatment and for possibly the next 24 hours, you may feel some tenderness or discomfort but this is quite normal and within a couple of days, the benefits of a remedial deep tissue massage treatment can be felt such as looser muscles, improved mobility and pain reduction. Many disorders can be helped with regular massage treatments including scoliosis, whiplash, fibromyalgia, carpel tunnel syndrome, arthritis, muscular dystrophy and multiple sclerosis.

The typical treatment time is one hour and more than one treatment may be recommended depending on your personal requirements.

I work in the NHS as a nurse. My role requires me to work long shifts, and the work is highly physical, and requires prolonged periods of difficult and uncomfortable postures.

No great surprise I often experience lower back pain, and sciatic discomfort.

Every so often it becomes unbearable, and that is when I book an appointment with Caroline.

For the last 4 to 5 years I have used Caroline’s expertise, and after a visit my discomfort is gone. If your occupation or circumstances bring you similar discomfort, then visit Caroline. An absolute Godsend!!

Like most people today, I suffer from stress through my work, and trying to deal with unexpected problems in my life. Tension builds up in my neck and shoulders causing me pain and misery, and my best solution was to seek, not pills but, massage therapy. I have been a client of Caroline Platt now for a number of years now, and she has always been able to give me a relief with her ‘magic hands !’ Her knowledge, understanding, ability and professionalism… is truly amazing.
