Remedial and Deep Tissue Massage
“Do you suffer from chronic pain, have a stiff neck and back resulting in you having limited mobility in your joints, or suffered an injury such as whiplash that is still giving you pain and muscle tension? If so you may want to try a remedial and deep tissue massage to help ease the problem”
Remedial massage is an effective way to prevent and treat muscle injuries, pain and soreness using advanced massage techniques to access, correct and re balance the soft tissues of the body. Most pain is soft tissue in origin and trigger points which are sensitive points in our muscles can radiate or refer pain to many parts of our body. For example most headaches originate in the muscles of the neck and head and low back and sciatica pain are often originated in the muscles than in vertebral disc problems. Deep tissue massage uses pressure and movement to release deeper layers of tissue including tendons and fascia and is slower and firmer than a Swedish massage. Can be used along with other techniques such as:
NMT(Neuromuscular therapy) uses pressure and friction to release areas of strain in a muscle known as trigger points. These trigger points are sensitive points in the muscle that radiate or refer pain to various parts of the body and are often the causes of muscular pain.
STR(Soft tissue release) assists the stretching of the muscular fibres, tendons and fascia helping the realignment of muscle fibres and restoring the range of movement and mobilisation of the joint.
MET (Muscle Energy Technique) uses the gentle muscle contraction of the client to relax and lengthen muscles and normalise joint motion. It is helpful in treating weak and tight muscles making them longer and stronger and improving the range of movement.
Any combination of the above can be used to provide pain relief caused by tense tight overworked muscles, poor posture and work practises and to correct any imbalance in the body. After a treatment and possibly the next day you may feel some tenderness or discomfort but this is quite normal and within a couple of days the benefits of the treatment can be felt such as looser muscles improved mobility and pain reduction. Many disorders can be helped with regular massage treatments including scoliosis, whiplash, fibromyalgia, carpel tunnel syndrome, arthritis, muscular dystrophy and multiple sclerosis.
Typical treatment time is 1 hour and more than one treatment may be recommended.
“I work in the NHS as a nurse. My role requires me to work long shifts, and the work is highly physical, and requires prolonged periods of difficult and uncomfortable postures.
No great surprise I often experience lower back pain, and sciatic discomfort.
Every so often it becomes unbearable, and that is when I book an appointment with Caroline.
For the last 4 to 5 years I have used Caroline’s expertise, and after a visit my discomfort is gone. If your occupation or circumstances bring you similar discomfort, then visit Caroline. An absolute Godsend!! ”Adele Cawood
